Remember how good our last sold out date at The Academy was? Well we’ve just announced a new gig at The Academy for April 8th, 2017! The tickets went on sale this morning, just in time for Christmas (hint hint!). You can get them here. If you need any more convincing about going, why not read our round up of the last gig at The Academy back in September. It was unreal.

“King Kong Company stole the Electric Picnic Weekend. They proved that no stage was too big for them and further underlined why they have been one of Ireland’s best bands…” – Dan Hegarty (2FM)

King Kong Company have had an incredible year. A couple of weeks after stealing the show at Electric Picnic (according to Dan Hegarty from 2FM) the band were handed the “Best Live Act 2016” award from Pure M Magazine. A week later they signed a European record deal that sees their debut album distributed in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg by Caroline International, a subsidiary of Universal Music. The same week as signing the deal, they sold out The Academy in Dublin when more than 800 heads showed up for what turned into something of a celebratory session.
The band packed out venues all over Ireland during their Autumn tour, with a couple of special shows in The Set in Kilkenny and their biggest headline gig to date in Cork Opera House over the Jazz Weekend. All of this on foot of the Irish release of their crtically acclaimed self-titled debut album back in June.
Never a shower to rest on their laurels, King Kong Company have taken a couple of months off from their gigging routine to work on new material and a shiny new stage show for 2017. The first opportunity to get a fresh slice what KKC have to offer will be when the King Kong Crew return to The Academy in Dublin on April 8th for what is guaranteed to be another massive night. The band will be premiering some raucous and raw tunes, bringing the stage antics up a notch or two and inviting a couple of guests along to swing through the rafters with them. This will be a gig not to be missed.
